Dr. Sunil Kumar is a distinguished Assistant Professor in the Department of Tourism and Hospitality Management at Mizoram University. A dedicated academician and researcher, his expertise spans culinary heritage, digital marketing, and hospitality management.

Dr. Kumar holds a Ph.D. in Hotel and Tourism Management from M.D. University Rohtak, where his doctoral research focused on “An Exploratory Study of Food Heritage in Haryana.” His solid educational foundation also includes an M.Sc. in Hotel Management, an M.T.M., and a B.Sc. in Hospitality and Hotel Administration. He has further enhanced his skills with a Certified Hospitality Trainer (C.H.T.) qualification and specialized certificates in areas like web design and nutrition.

Throughout his career, Dr. Kumar has been recognized for his contributions to the field. He was honored with “The Aspiring Researcher of Hospitality, Travel and Tourism” award by the President of the Indian Hospitality Congress in 2015. He has also received numerous Certificates of Appreciation for his active participation in various academic events and workshops.

His professional journey began as a Teaching Associate in 2010, and he has since held various academic and administrative roles at prestigious institutions. Before joining Mizoram University in 2022, he served as a Lecturer at the Institute of Hotel Management, Raipur, and the Indian Culinary Institute Noida, where he also managed administrative responsibilities as Examination Incharge and Hostel Warden.

Currently, Dr. Kumar is a key member of the Mizoram University community, serving as the Nodal Officer of the Yuva Tourism Club and as the Training and Placement Incharge for his department. His administrative acumen is further demonstrated by his past roles as Academic Head, Admin Head, and Examination Head at IHM Raipur. He is also actively involved in professional bodies, holding a life membership with the Indian Hospitality Congress and serving as the Founder Member and President of the Mizoram Culinary Association.

Dr. Kumar’s research output is both prolific and diverse. He has successfully completed a national project as Project Director and has 5 research experiences and 11 years of undergraduate teaching experience. He has supervised 29 awarded PG Dissertations and is currently guiding 4 Ph.D. and 4 PG students. His impressive publication record includes 2 edited books, 6 textbooks, 4 book chapters, and 9 research papers. He holds 7 patents, with two already awarded for innovations in “Virtual Reality Hotel Tour” and “Bio-Acoustic Navigation System.”
