The Department of Social Work was initiated under NEHU (Mizoram Campus) in July, 1990 by Dr.Bharti Sharma, Reader and Founder-Head of the Department. It was however, only on the formation of the full-fledged Mizoram University that the Masters Programme in Social Work was started. The MSW course commenced on 1st August, 2002. The department imparts education and training in professional Social Work with the aim of providing qualified personnel in Social Welfare and Social development with specific reference to North-East Region. At present, the department is offering MSW, M.Phil and Ph.D. degree programmes
