About the Department:
The department of Psychology was established in the year 1983 under the erstwhile Mizoram Campus of North Eastern Hill University. The department has had several senior faculty members who have richly contributed to its growth and development. It is currently functioning with four Professors, four Assistant Professors and one UGC Guest Faculty. The department presently conducts Post-Graduate and Ph.D. Programmes with a vision of “Academic Excellence In Reinforcing Teaching Of Behavioral Sciences With Authentic Research Finding, To Provide Psychological Services”.

Other Details (Since Jan., 2019):
Under the NEP 2020, the department conducts rigorous Field Work, and Internship in Government and Non-Government Organisations under the supervision of the faculty. ‘Out Reach and Extension Services’ to communities are also conducted. The department has a vibrant collaboration with the Government of Mizoram and Non-Governmental organizations in Research, and other programmes. The Mizoram University Counselling Cell Offices are located at the Department of Psychology and the Head of Department of Psychology is the Ex-Officio Convener of the Counselling Cell. Trainings and workshops for students are organised at regular intervals where faculty members as well as experts from other fields are invited as resource persons.
