About the Department :         

The Department of Public Administration was established in June, 1985 under the North Eastern Hill University (Mizoram Campus). It is till date the only Central University Department imparting Post Graduate and Doctor of Philosophy Programmes in Public Administration in the North Eastern Region of India. As per the mandate of NEP 2020, the Students of the Department complete Field Projects in all the four Semesters and Dissertation Work in third and fourth Semesters. General Seminar is organised for and by the Students under the guidance of the Faculty on Thursdays. Regular Library visits are part of the time table. The Department celebrated its Pearl Jubilee (thirty years of existence i.e.1985-2015) by organizing an International Seminar in the month of November, 2015. Administrative Studies, A National Refereed Annual Journal (with ISSN) is published by the Department from that year. The Department houses the Indian Institute of Public Administration, Mizoram Regional Branch. The Department has a Centre for Public Policy and Good Governance (CPP & GG) approved by the Academic Council of MZU in 2020. The Department has signed MoU with the National Centre for Good Governance, DARPG, Govt. of India, New Delhi on August 16, 2024 for Academic, Research, Extension, and Collaborative endeavours.

The Department of Public Administration organized an International Lecture Meeting on the topic ‘Race, Space and the City’ on 23^rd February, 2023 (2:30PM) at the Seminar Hall, Department of Public Administration, Mizoram University, Aizawl with Rozena Maart, University of Kwa-Zulu-Natal, Durban, South Africa as the resource person. 
2. The Department of Public Administration organized a National Lecture Meeting on the topic ‘Meghalaya Election & Government Formation, 2023’ on 10^th March, 2023 (10:30 AM) at the Seminar Hall, Department of Public Administration, Mizoram University, Aizawl with Prof. T. T. Haokip, Deptt. of Political Science, NEHU as the resource person.
3. The Department of Public Administration organized a National Lecture Meeting on the topic ‘Writing a Research Proposal’ on 26^th April, 2023 (12:00 Noon) at the Seminar Hall, Department of Public Administration, Mizoram University, Aizawl with Prof. Mangi Singh, Deptt. of Political Science, Manipur University, Imphal, Manipur as the resource person.
4. The Department of Public Administration organized a National Lecture Meeting on the topic ‘Shyama Prasad Mukherji Rurban Mission’ on 2^nd of May, 2023 (1:30 PM) at the Seminar Hall, Department of Public Administration, Mizoram University, Aizawl with Prof. Sumit Mukherji, Professor of Political Science, University of Kalyani, West Bengal as the resource person.
5. The Department of Public Administration organized a two day International Seminar on ‘Recent Trends in Public Administration: G20 Perspectives’ on 23^rd and 24^th May, 2023 on blended mode at the Seminar Hall, Department of Public Administration, Mizoram University, Aizawl.
