Mizoram University Hosts International Workshop on Advanced Oxidation Processes for Sustainable Development

Aizawl, 25 August 2025: The Department of Chemistry, Mizoram University, in collaboration with the Scheme for Promotion of Academic and Research Collaboration (SPARC), inaugurated a week-long International Workshop on Current Trends in Advanced Oxidation Processes for Sustainable Development at the Seminar Hall of the MZU Guest House today at 10:00 AM.

The programme commenced with the arrival and felicitation of distinguished guests, followed by the welcome address from Prof. N. Mohondas Singh, Head of the Department of Chemistry. In his remarks, he underscored the academic and practical importance of advanced oxidation processes in promoting sustainable chemical practices.

Prof. Diwakar Tiwari, Convener and Principal Investigator of the SPARC Project, provided an overview of the workshop, highlighting its objectives and relevance in addressing pressing global challenges. Sharing an international perspective, Prof. Jinho Jung, Principal Investigator of SPARC from Korea University, Seoul, also addressed the gathering.

Speaking on behalf of the School of Physical Sciences, Prof. Suman Rai, Dean, emphasized the significance of interdisciplinary approaches in fostering innovation and impactful research.

Delivering the inaugural address, Prof. Dibakar Chandra Deka, Hon’ble Vice Chancellor of Mizoram University and Chief Guest of the occasion, lauded the initiative as a timely and visionary step in advancing quality research aligned with sustainable development. He encouraged participants to make the most of the workshop as a platform for knowledge exchange and collaborative growth.

The inaugural programme concluded with a vote of thanks proposed by Dr. Lalhmunsiama, Co-convener and Co-Principal Investigator of the SPARC Project, who extended gratitude to the dignitaries, participants, and organizing team. The event closed with the rendition of the National Anthem.
