Aizawl, 29 August 2025: Mizoram University observed National Sports Day and marked the launch of the Fit India Movement Program with a series of fitness and sporting activities that brought together students, faculty, and staff in a spirited celebration of health and wellness.
The programme commenced with a pledge led by Dr. Saugata Sarkar, ADPE, reaffirming the University community’s commitment to fitness and active living. This was followed by a Road Race for different categories of participants: a Run/Walk for those below 55 years, and a Walk for participants above 55 years of age. The events were officially flagged off by the Hon’ble Vice Chancellor, Prof. Dibakar Chandra Deka, who lauded the initiative as a meaningful way to honor National Sports Day while strengthening the culture of fitness at MZU.
