Main Function:

To liaise with Affiliated Colleges and the State Government on various issues related to Higher Education in Mizoram

Objective:

The objective of the College Development Council is to provide a leadership role and generally extend help, guidance and advice to the colleges admitted to the privileges of the University. The Council is the Principal Advisory Body to the Executive Council, through the Academic Council, in all matters relating to the affiliated colleges.

Vision:

The vision of CDC is that Colleges affiliated under Mizoram University will grow qualitatively to be able to compete with other Colleges of repute in the Country

Mission:

To help improve quality of Higher education in Mizoram through quality monitoring and assessment of the Colleges affiliated under Mizoram University.

Functions:

The College Development Council performs following functions:

1. Provide a forum for consideration of various aspects of education in the affiliated colleges of the university with a view to continuously improve the general educational standards in the colleges.
2. Assess the development needs of the colleges.
3. Help the affiliated colleges to prepare development projects which may be financed internally by the Institutions, or which may be presented to other funding agencies such as University Grants Commission, etc.
4. Submit projects to funding agencies on behalf of the affiliated colleges individually or collectively; make such information available to concerned bodies.
5. Assess periodically the physical facilities in the affiliated colleges with reference to the number of students and the subjects taught and make recommendations for their   improvement.
6. Review the academic performance of affiliated colleges from time to time and make suggestions for improvement.
7. Review the examination systems and suggest innovations and improvements.
8. Follow up the Inspection Reports on various colleges and suggest corrective measures wherever necessary.
9. Promote and encourage co-curricular activities in the colleges.
10. Conduct surveys of all the affiliated colleges with a view to preparing and maintaining an up-to-date profile on each college under the University, reviewing the existing facilities and identifying the needs and gaps that need to be filled for the development of colleges, and
11. Ensure close and continued contact and interaction between the academic faculties at the University teaching Departments and at the college level.

Contribution : In quality related aspects of the University

As the CDC is mainly concerned with Affiliated Colleges, it has no direct contribution to the University in terms of quality except the quality control provided to the affiliated College.

Contribution in academic related aspects of the University:

As the CDC is mainly concerned with Affiliated Colleges, it has no direct contribution to the University in terms of quality except providing assistance to the Colleges Affiliated under Mizoram University

Activities:
