About:
The Red Ribbon Club (RCC) is a comprehensive promotional and Preventive intervention to enhance voluntary blood donation as well as mainstream HIV/AIDS prevention, care & support and treatment impact, mitigation, stigma reduction, among youth in educational institutions. It will also prepare and promote youth peer educators within and outside the campuses.
The Red Ribbon Club (RRC) under the State Aids Control Society (MSACS), Government of Mizoram was constituted in Mizoram University on 24th June, 2011 .
The Vice Chancellor launched the Red Ribbon Club at a function on 6th Sept. 2011 at the Multi- purpose Hall at 1.00 p.m.

The Red Ribbon Club (RRC) is a movement started by the Government of India in educational institutions and constituted in Mizoram University since June, 2011. The RRC-MZU vision is to instill awareness/ prevetion of HIV/AIDS, life skills among the youth students’, harnessing the potential and capacity of youth equipping them with the knowledge of mental health and substance abuse. It thus visualized regular voluntary blood donation among youth in educational institutions.
The Mission of RRC-MZU is to spread awareness on HIV/AIDS, to alleviate the spread of HIV/AIDS among the youth, to motivate the student’ youth as Peer educator and Change agents and promotion of voluntary blood donation in Mizoram University.
1. To address the issues and consequences of HIV/AIDS among the students’ youth
2. To create awareness on HIV/AIDS and equipping them with correct information.
3. To motivate the students’ to build their capacity as of Peer educators and change agents
4. To promote voluntary blood donation among the students and within the university
5. To encourage students’ to have a better and healthy life style.
Activities:
1. One-Day Peer Educators Training conducted by Mizoram State AIDS Control Society (MSACS) on 7th Sept. 2011 at the I & PR Auditorium. 56 students (2 from each Dept.) of the University were identified and appointed as Peer Educators and attended the training.
2. One- Day -Training of Peer Educators organized by Mizoram State AIDS Control Society (MSACS) at Central Y.M.A. Hall on 20th November, 2012.
3. Voluntary Blood Donation Camp in collaboration with Anti-Tobacco Squad, MZU on 1st March 2012.
4. Voluntary Blood Donation Camp in collaboration with NSS, MZU. 23rd April 2013.
5. One Day Peer Educators Training Program” in collaboration with with The State AIDS Control Society, Mizoram (MSACS.) University Guest House Conference Hall, on 31st October, 2013.
6. One-Day Peer Educators Training organized by Mizoram State AIDS Control Society (MSACS) at the Central Y.M.A. Hall on 3rd August, 2017.
7. Representatives of MZU-Red Ribbon Club Mr. Lalnunpuia and Taetitia Lalringngheti won second place in the State-Level Red Ribbon Quiz 2021 during 18-22 October and are being felicitated by the Students’ Council on 28th October 2021.

20. Voluntary Blood Donation Camp organized by The Red Ribbon Club in collaboration with the NSS and the Students’ Council of MZU on 18th – 19th March 2024.
Awareness campaign with correct education on HIV/AIDS, adequate information about HIV/AIDS/ STI/Sexuality, motivation and promotion of voluntary blood donation. In addition, the RRC organize HIV/AIDS awareness campaigns through presentations, seminars, distribution of IEC materials. It does participated in the national and stated level quiz competition. In addition, one of the core function of RRC is on the promotion of voluntary blood donation among the university students. It also identifies, prepares and promotes Peer Educators (P.E) among students’ community.
Contribution of Red Ribbon Club: In quality related aspects of the University:
1. Raising awareness of HIV/AIDS , Issues and challenges among the university fraternity though organizing
seminar, awareness lectures, poster making competition, essay writing competition and signatory campaign.
