About:
International Students Centre and Collaborations (ISCC) has the following main objectives:
- foster international collaborations with reputed universities and institutions abroad for joint research projects,
- faculty and student development and exchange,
- joint programs like workshops and seminars, and
- foster and strengthen cultural relations and mutual understanding for a better world
The ISCC is headed by a Director supported by the Deputy Director and Assistant Director who are in contact with the international institutions/organizations/Universities/ Embassies/Consulates of the foreign countries for providing required information for the benefit of the prospective foreign students. The Centre provides a single window system to facilitate the international students with all kinds of services that they require. It deals with the admission and guidance of international students. International students will be given admission into undergraduate, postgraduate, research and professional courses of MZU through the ISCC.

ADMISSION GUIDELINES
I. INTRODUCTION
These rules define the procedure for the admission of International students to various courses. These rules are based on General Guidelines issued by the University Grants Commission (UGC), Association of Indian Universities (AIU) and Statutory / Regulatory directives issued from time to time.
a)The university agrees in principle to admit International students to the Post-Graduate, Undergraduate and Ph.D. programmes to provide educational opportunities to International students in different fields in three ways:
i) on full time basis,
ii) on Indian Government and foreign government scholarship/fellowshipprogrammes such as the Cultural Exchange Fellowship Program of ICCR, USIEF – Fulbright,Humboldt Fellowships, ICSSR and UGC schemes etc.
iii) As semester students to audit/credit the course or courses
b)The International Students Centre and Collaborations office is the single window for all the foreign nationals who wish to seek admission in Mizoram University in different programmes. It also serves as the window for collaborations between Mizoram University and Universities in and outside India.
c)International Student means (i) a student candidate who holds a Passport/ Citizenship of a country other than India, (ii) a student candidate who has an OCI/ PIO Card and also holds a Passport of a country other than India.
d) International students will be considered for admission over and above the existing seat allotment in each department and under each faculty member.
II. FULL TIME FOREIGN SCHOLAR
1. Eligibility& Qualification:
International Students seeking admission in any programme will have to satisfy the minimum eligibility criteria for admission to the various programmes of study as prescribed by the University. The qualifications required for eligibility for admission to different programmes can be checked in detail from the prospectus or university website. The minimum educational qualification for admission of International students in various programmes is same as for Indians.
i)Candidates seeking admission to any program must have studied the allied subjects of the concerned program at the Undergraduate(XII), Graduate (Degree) or Post Graduate(Masters) level prior to seeking admission.
ii)For the Graduate course(Degree), only the students who have studied and passed the qualifying examination from a school located in foreign country shall be considered. This will include the student studying in school and / or college situated in foreign country, even if the concerned school / college is affiliated to any Board of secondary Higher Secondary education or a University in India. However, wards of NRI / PIO / FN, who is studying for the qualifying examination in school / college located in India, are excluded.
iii) In case of any school that follows the American system of education, the candidate must have studied the allied subjects at “AP” (Advanced Placement) level and must have minimum C grade in these subjects.
iv) The candidate shall get equivalence certificate from the Association of Indian University (AIU), New Delhi. Only those students who have qualified from Foreign Universities or Boards of Higher Education, recognized as equivalent by the Association of Indian Universities (AIU) are eligible for admission. When required, a reference will be made to AIU to check the equivalent. Equivalence Certificate :For issue of Equivalence Certificate, the required fee in US $ or equivalent Indian currency payable through Demand Draft favouring “Association of Indian Universities, New Delhi” is required. For prescribed application form to be submitted to the Association of Indian Universities, New Delhi refer detailed guidelines of Association of Indian Universities, New Delhi for international admission available on http://www.aiuweb.org/Evaluation/evaluation.asp.
2. ADMISSION
2.1 Admission information:
Student willing to join the university for various programmes will get the information about the application form and the information on the eligibility requirements, courses available and admission procedure from the prospectus or the website of the university.
2.2 Provisional admission form:
The application for provisional admission is to be submitted to the ISCC office along with the prescribed fees on or before the last date specified. The office will then check the eligibility and issue the provisional eligibility letter. This is required to get the visa and to complete other formalities.
2.3 Provisional Admission procedure:
i)Application for provisional eligibility in the prescribed form can be downloaded from the university website. A prescribed eligibility fee (USD 30-50)has to be deposited along with the form before the last date specified.
ii)Attach with this application form photocopies of the statement of marks of the last qualifying examinations duly attested by:
a. Indian Embassy in International country, or
b. High Commissioner of students country in India, or
c. Ministry of Education in International country.
d. In case of Ph.D. course enclose a copy of the outline of the proposed research along with the application form.
iii)Attach Migration Certificate in original with the application form. This is obligatory for those coming from any other Statutory Indian University.
iv)Attach affidavit to the application form relating to the gap between year of passing and the last qualifying examination and the date of application for admission to Mizoram University(not required for Ph.D. programmes).
v)The ISCC office will issue the provisional eligibility letter after scrutinizing the forms and on the basis of credentials verified by the University and the Association of Indian University. Only those applicants who fulfill the eligibility requirements and are recommended for admission is issued a provisional admission letter by the ISCC office pending approval of the concerned department. The provisional admission letter is sent to the applicant’s Embassy in New Delhi, Indian High Commission in applicant’s Home country and a scanned copy of the letter to the applicant’s email address.
2.4 Final admission:
After obtaining the provisional eligibility letter the following requirements have to be fulfilled:
i) Visa:
All the International students will require a student visa endorsed to only Mizoram University for joining the Undergraduate Programme, Post-Graduate Programme, Certificate or Diploma Programme, and M. Phil. Programme. No other endorsement is acceptable. Students wishing to join a PhD programme will require a Research Visa endorsed to Mizoram University. All visas should be valid for the prescribed duration of the course.
ii) No objection certificate:
International students do not require to submit a No Objection Certificate for joining professional courses, however all International students willing to undertake any research work or join a Ph. D. or M. Phil. programmes will have to obtain prior security clearance from the Ministry of Home Affairs and the approval of Department of Secondary & Higher Education, Ministry of Human Resource Development, Government of India and must be on the research visa endorsed to Mizoram University.
iii) Fee (as per existing structure)
iv) Medical& Fitness test:
The students may conduct the following tests in their country failing which they will have to undergo these tests in India.
i) HIV test
ii) Hepatitis surface Antigen (HBsAg)/ Australia Antigen before admission.
v)English proficiency test:
An International student shall be required to produce a valid certificate of test for English language or be exempted from this provided –
i) The student has passed the qualifying examination in English medium, or
ii) The student has a valid score in Proficiency Test in English like TOEFL and
ELTIS.
3. Examination and Award of Degrees & Diplomas
The procedure for examination, payment of examination fees, issue of mark sheet, issue of passing certificates and award of degrees will be same as for the Indian students doing same courses.
III. FELLOWS/SCHOLARS THROUGH INDIAN AND FOREIGN GOVERNMENT
PROGRAMMES
Foreign students may also be admitted for studies under Indian Government and foreign government scholarship/fellowship programmes such as the Cultural Exchange Fellowship Program of ICCR, USIEF, and Humboldt Fellowships etc. The foreign students seeking admission under the programmes are required to process their applications through the institutions and agencies in charge of the programs in India and abroad. In the event of their selection and approval of affiliating faculty, the students and the organizing institutions will be informed about their selection.
IV. SEMESTER STUDENTS TO AUDIT/CREDIT COURSE(S)
Foreign students studying a regular course in their respective universities in their own country may join the University for a semester or two to audit/credit the course(s) in any of the Centre/Schools of Study. If admission is given for auditing, Certificate of Participation will be issued by the faculty In-Charge of the course and if admission is given for credit, End-Semester Grade Sheet will be issued by the University, subject to the condition that they will be attending the semester classes and appearing in the End Semester Examination.
