o Co-ordinate the admission of the students in various halls of residences of the University.
o Advise the Vice-Chancellor on the appointment of the Wardens to the Halls of residences of the University.
o Assist the Vice-Chancellor in supervising and controlling the residents of all students by coordinating the activities of the Wardens.
o Deal with the matters of management, overall discipline and conditions of living in the halls of residence, approved hostels, and approved lodges of the University.
o Advise the University in the matter of organizations and development of student bodies
o Co-ordinate the activities of the different bodies concerning student welfare.
o Arrange for and co-ordinate the elections of the Office bearers and other representatives of the MZU students Union as per the rules of the University.
o Advise the University on the nomination of student representatives on various bodies of the University.
o Supervise/or organize the co-curricular and sports activities of the students in the Campuses.
o Be in overall charges of the funds for the cultural and sports activities of MZU Student Council and other student bodies in the University. He shall forward the accounts of expenditure received from the MZU Student Council and other students’ bodies as mentioned above to the University. Such accounts shall be certified by a body of the University which receive then.
o Issue the travel concession to the students and shall recommend the educational tours/ excursions of the students.
o Supervise and/or organize the carrier guidance and other counseling facilities for the welfare of the students.
o Supervise and/or organize such programmes and activities which shall strengthen the students-teacher relationship, student-administration and student-society relationships.
o Undertake such other duties and responsibilities relating to the welfare of the students as directed by the Vice-Chancellor from time to time.
Named after a beautiful Mizo flower Zamzo, (Celosia argentea), traditionally planted near thlam (jhum hut) in the jhum field, Zamzo Hall of Residence is a women hostel for P.G. students and Research Scholars. It is located near Department of Management in the north-western part of the campus. Although the hostel started functioning from 12th October 2019, it was inaugurated later on 24thAugust, 2020 by Shri R P Nishank, Hon’ble Minister of Education, Government of India. The capacity of Zamzo hostel is 116 (58 double rooms). Every hosteller is provided with a study table, a chair and a bed. Every room is attached with a cupboard and a book-shelf. Water coolers are installed to meet the drinking water requirement of residents.

Named after a famous Mizo flower Chhawkhlei (Rhododendrum arboretum), Chhawkhlei Hall of Residence is the oldest hostel inside the MZU campus. Initially, it was a PG Boys’ Hostel and in 2013, it was converted into P.G Girls’ Hostel and renamed as Senhri Hall of Residence. From 2016 onwards, it became a research scholars’ hostel for girls and revert back as Chhawkhlei Hall of Residence. The hostel is located on the way to the Mizoram University Guest House on the north side of the campus. The seat capacity of Chhawkhlei Hostel is 30. All rooms are single room.

Named after Mizo traditional flower Dingdi (Asclepiascurassavica), Dingdi Hall of Residence was inaugurated in 14thFebruary 2011. It is a women hostel for students of U.G, P.G. and research scholars. The hostel is located near the School of Social Sciences, Mizoram University. The seat capacity of the hostel is 100. There are single rooms specially provided to the senior research scholars and the double and triple rooms are provided to U.G and P.G students.

- Ainawn Hall of Residence:
Named after Mizo flower Ainawn (Woodfordia fructicosa), Ainawn Hall of Residence is located below Dingdi hall of Residence. It is hostel for U.G, P.G and Research Scholars women. It was inaugurated on 14th February, 2011. The hostel has 100 seats. There are single, double and triple rooms. The single rooms are given to senior research scholars, double and triple rooms are given to U.G and P.G students. Every student is provided with table, chair and shelf.

Named after a popular Mizo orchid, Senhri (Renanthera imschootiana Rolfe), Senhri hall of residence is located below Ainawn Hall of Residence. It is a hostel for U.G, P.G and Research Scholars women. The hostel is 100 seaters hostel with single, double and triple rooms. There are single rooms specially provided to the senior research scholars and the double and triple rooms are provided to U.G and P.G students.

Phawngpui Hall of Residence is named after the highest Peak in Mizoram. This Men’s hostel is located on the north-western part of MZU Campus near School of Earth Sciences and Natural Resource Management. It was inaugurated in 2011.There are 50 rooms with single, double and triple rooms. The single rooms are provided to senior research scholars, double and triple rooms are provided to U.G and P.G students. Every room is equipped with table, chair and shelf.

The single rooms are provided to senior research scholars, double and triple rooms are provided to U.G and P.G students. Every room is equipped with table, chair and shelf.

- Thorang Hall of Residence: Thorang Hall of Residence is named after the famous peak in the western part of Mizoram. Thorang Hall of Residence is men’s hostel for P.G students and Research Scholars located near Department of Management on the north-western part of the campus. The hostel started functioning on 12th October, 2019 and inaugurated on 24th August, 2020 by Shri Ramesh Pokhriyal Nishank, Hon’ble Minister of Education, Gov’t of India. The seat capacity of Thorang hostel is 100 (50 double rooms) equipped with warden’s quarter. Every student is provided with a study table, a chair and a bed. The room has an attached cupboard and book-shelf on the room. Filtered water is provided through coolers to meet the drinking water requirement of residents.

- Buannel Hall of Residence: Named after the birthplace of animals and the abode of fairies in Mizo mythology, Buannel Hall of Residence is a temporary research scholars (men) hostel established in August, 2017. It is located near Basketball Court in MZU. The seat capacity of Buannel hostel is 39 and is equipped with warden’s quarter. Every student is provided with a study table, a chair and a bed. Each room has an attached cupboard and book-shelf on the room.

- Chalfilh Hall of Residence: Chalfilh is the famous peak in mid-northern part of Mizoram. Chalfilh hall of residence is located in the south western part of MZU Campus near School of Engineering and Technology. It was established in 2013. The seat capacity of this hostel is 100. Mostly, the hostellers are the Engineering students. The rooms are double and triple rooms. Every room is equipped with table, chair and shelf.

- Hmuifang hall of Residence: Hmuifang is the famous hill resort in Mizoram. Hmuifang hall of residence is a men’s hostel and located in the south western part of MZU Campus near School of Engineering and Technology. It was established in 2013. The seat capacity of this hostel is 100. Mostly, the hostellers are the Engineering students. The rooms are double and triple rooms. Every room is equipped with table, chair and shelf.

- Tan Tlang Hall of Residence: Tan tlang is a famous peak believed to be the abode of fairies and other spirits in Mizo mythology located in the eastern part of Mizoram. Tan Tlang hall of Residence is men’s hostel and located near the School of Engineering and Technology. It was inaugurated in 14th July, 2016. The seat capacity is 100 students and the rooms are single, double and triple rooms. The single rooms are provided to senior research scholars, double and triple rooms are provided to U.G and P.G students. Every room is equipped with table, chair and shelf.
