About:

The Centre for Petroleum Exploration started functioning in December 2019 under the umbrella of the Department of Geology, the School of Earth Sciences & Natural Resources Management, Mizoram University. This centre has as its primary goal to provide excellent education, training, and research, in addition to skill and career-building vision to build proficient human resources to meet the critical needs of the nation’s petroleum industry. The centre has a striving plan to offer Master’s and Doctoral degree programs.

Vision:

To perform quality research, deliver quality education, and develop competencies for effective services to hydrocarbon industry and society for socio-economic development.

Mission:

To collaborate with the research institutes and the hydrocarbon industry in national and international level to build up skilled human resources for serving at a global scale.

Research Areas/Overviews:

At present, the centre is functioned by one faculty, who is actively involved in research related to coal and petroleum geology as well as unconventional energy resources like coal bed methane and shale gas exploration, together with various fields of multidisciplinary research areas.
