Mizoram University Welcomes New Students with Freshers’ Social 2025 Celebration

On 14th August 2025, Mizoram University hosted the much-anticipated Freshers’ Social 2025 at the MZU Auditorium, warmly welcoming the new batch of students into the vibrant university community. The event was graced by Prof. Dibakar Chandra Deka, Hon’ble Vice Chancellor, as Chief Guest, and Prof. Lalnundanga, Registrar, as Guest of Honour.

The first session, chaired by J. H. Lalruatfela, Vice President of the Students’ Council (SC), began with a welcome address by Vanlalramhmangaiha, SC President, followed by the annual report presentation from Lalbiakdika Zongte, General Secretary. Dr. R. Lalchhanhima, Dean of Students’ Welfare, delivered an impactful Anti-Ragging Campaign address, reaffirming the university’s commitment to a safe and inclusive campus. The programme featured soulful musical performances, including solos by Lalnunmawii (Department of Mizo) and P. C. Lalrinhlui (Department of Education).

A highlight of the event was the presentation of the Student of the Year Award by the Guest of Honour. Freshers’ representative Lalhmangaihsanga (Department of Mathematics & Computer Science) shared his excitement and aspirations, followed by greetings from student associations including MIZUTA, MUNTSA, and MIZUAA. Dr. Lalsangzela Sailo, Deputy Dean of Students’ Welfare, offered felicitations on behalf of the SC before the Chief Guest delivered an inspiring address. The session concluded with a heartfelt Vote of Thanks by Catherine Lallawmpuii, Assistant Cultural Secretary of the SC.

The second session brought a vibrant change of pace, with “Mr. & Miss Varsity 2025” taking on MC duties and introducing a lively line-up of performers—Mawimawia, David Darlong, BZ-i Tochhawng, and Young Fella—who enthralled the audience with their talent, making Freshers’ Social 2025 a memorable and joyous celebration.
