Aizawl, 12 September 2025: The Sports Department of Mizoram University successfully organized the Fit India Movement 2025–26 from 29th August to 12th September 2025, bringing together students, faculty, and staff in a spirited celebration of health, fitness, and sportsmanship. The two-week programme featured six sporting disciplines—Football (Men), Volleyball (Women), Basketball (Men), Badminton (Men), Table Tennis (Men), and Road Race (Men & Women)—with active participation from Mizoram University fraternity, Pachhunga University College, and other colleges in Aizawl.
The event was inaugurated on 29th August 2025 at 6:45 AM at the MZU Gate by Hon’ble Vice Chancellor Prof. Dibakar Chandra Deka, who flagged off the Road Race and Road Walk. The closing ceremony, held on 12th September 2025 at the MZU Football Ground, was graced by Hon’ble Pro Vice Chancellor Prof. Pravakar Rath as Chief Guest. In his address, Prof. Rath emphasized the essence of the Fit India Movement, stressing that participation and the promotion of healthy lifestyles are more important than victory.
Following the presentation of trophies, medals, and cash prizes, Dr. Saugata Sarkar, Assistant Director of Physical Education & Sports and Coordinator of the programme, presented the event report. A Vote of Thanks was proposed by Mr. Lalmawizuala, Coach, Sports Department, after which Prof. Rath formally declared the programme closed.
