Information & Communication Technology (ICT) Centre, previously known as Computer Centre, was setup in 2007 under UGC scheme " Establishment/Upgradation of Computer Centres in universities" for providing ICT related services to students, teaching and Non- teaching staff of the University. The Centre provides computing facilities to students and employees of the university.The Centre has a server room housing five high end servers which provide various services such as Internet, file sharing, etc. for the users. The University has Internet Connection with 1Gbps bandwidth under NKN (National Knowledge Network) scheme is shared over campus network.
The Centre is monitoring University Website (www.mzu.edu.in) and EDUSAT programme. One of the most important functions of ICT Centre is maintaining Campus Network, which has covered all existing Academic and Administrative buildings. Presently, more than 700 nodes are connected by cable and the Wifi Connection has also been provided to selected locations. Full Wifi Campus Project and Extension of Campus LAN to new buildings is in progress. Currently the Centre is also monitoring the on-going e-Governance Project of the university.
The Centre had setup Intranet applications such as, Intranet Mail, Intranet Website, Online Learning System etc. LAN messenger software was installed in all computers and it is being extensively utilized by all employees for quick communication such as sharing of files, data and voice chat. Online storage of 5 GB capacity is provided to all employees for storing their documents. VPN Service has been provided to the employees for accessing university's e-resources from outside campus.
The Centre has a well-equipped Training Hall for conducting various kinds of ICT training programme. Video Conferencing System was installed at the hall for having online meetings both for official and academic related matters. All academic classrooms are now equipped with ceiling mount projectors and laptops for facilitating the teaching-learning processes. Installation was done by the Centre.
ICT orientation programme is conducted for all new students in each academic year and ICT trainings are also organized for university employees.
