The School of Life Sciences was established in the year 2005 and consists Zoology, Botany and Biotechnology Departments, which are assisted by Department of Science and Technology, Ministry of Science and Technology New Delhi under FIST and Non-SAP UGC programmes.

        Departments of Biotechnology and Zoology offer M.Sc, M.Phil and Ph.D degree courses. Botany Department is offering M.Sc and Ph.D degrees in subject Botany. The school has a modern animal house, tissue culture laboratory, museum, transgenic glass and net houses. The School is engaged in the frontier areas of research in biological sciences including Cancer biology, Conservation biology, Molecular Entomology, algal physiology and biochemistry, oxidative stress, microbial diversity, nano-biotechnology, forest ecology, ethnobotany, plant and microbial biotechnology which are supported by various funding agencies like ICMR, CSIR, DBT, UGC, DST, ICAR, Central Silk Board and Mizoram Govt. Health department.

        The School is equipped with state-of-art equipments and facilities, Bioinformatics Infrastructure Facility BIF) and State Biotech Hub for teaching and research.
