School of Physical Sciences

Dean : Prof. R.C. Tiwari, Deptt. of Physics

The School of Physical Sciences became functional (phase wise) during the Xth Plan period and has, at present, 3 PG departments. Teaching in the Department of Physics commenced from academic session 2003 – 2004, Chemistry: 2006 – 2007 and Mathematics & Computer Science: 2007 – 2008. All PG courses have been framed as per UGC model syllabus/CBCS and currently the School is working to re-structure the UG courses for affiliated Colleges under CBCS as per new UGC guidelines in this regard. Full-fledged Ph.D. programme commenced from academic session 2007-08 and so far 29 PhDs (Phy-15, Chem-07, MACS-07) awarded, JRF-NET qualified- 02 (Physics), SLET-01 (Chemistry) and SLET-1,GATE-01 (MACS). Ph.D. programme, as per UGC regulation 2009, is currently run by all the 3 academic departments under the school. Teaching and Research in the School is supported by dedicated faculty, non-teaching staff and sincere students. There are 20 faculty members under the school (6 Professors and 14 Assistant Professors). There are 30 seats for PG admission in each department. During 2007-12, the school received financial support under DST-FIST programme. Recently, Chemistry department has been selected under Departmental DST-FIST. The School is marching ahead with the aim to enrich the students with quality Teaching and Research in various disciplines of Physical Sciences.
